Nestled amidst a tranquil Hougang estate, this quaint cafe
is pretty inaccessible if you don’t stay along the North-East line. But that
definitely hasn’t stopped me from already visiting this place twice just for
its salted egg offerings!
Flavour Flings boasts an entire salted egg series, ranging
from salted egg croissant (FIRST TO LAUNCH IN SINGAPORE), to salted egg fries,
salted eggs benedict, and last but definitely not the least, the salted egg
brioche toast!
Anything with salted egg already makes many go weak on their
knees, but their salted egg brioche toast is one that I would definitely return
for a satisfying salted egg treat. While the salted egg did not ooze out like
we expected, the crispy toast complemented with the grainy salted egg lava more
than made up for any disappointments one might have had.
Lastly, we also ordered some of their mains before we
devoured the toast. The salmon aglio olio was on the spicy side and slightly
dry, while the carbonara did a really good job at satisfying my craving for a shiok creamy dish. Though not
exceptionally flattering in their plating, the portion and ingredients were
generous and this place would in my opinion be worth a third visit.
overallreview: shauneeie3hands. Prolly the desserts were inspired but more could be done with the mains. Anyways, great to have cafes amongst the suburban community. Lets hope that Flavour Flings can continue to surprise us with their trendy offerings/items
